Oh the Places We'll Go. . .

Fantasy Festival started back in 1978 when Frank Romano and Joe Liszka envisioned a seven-day, colorful October festival in Key West, Florida to offset what was traditionally a slow economic time of year for the area.  The idea of a festival surrounding Halloween, when the streets of Key West, Florida were virtually empty but the weather was still warm and sunny seemed like a win-win.

The festival showcases the spirit of Key West with colorful and creative body art, street parades, costume competitions and other fun activities and theme evenings.

Fantasy Festival has been regarded as Florida’s answer to Mardi Gras with about 70,000 people pouring into the area during the last week of October. The festival is a seven-day celebration that culminates the annual Fantasy Fest parade and Street dance.  Each year the festival has a unique theme that serves as the centerpiece for the Festival. Fantasy Fest is open to all artists, musicians and to the general public. The official web site for the Fantasy Fest is www.fantasyfest.net.

Our FantaSea Cruise will be one of the most uniquely offered cruise charters in Bare Necessities 19 year history. Our ship, the Carnival Miracle, will dock for two days in Key West providing its passengers a ringside seat to all of the festivities on October 30 and 31st.  The fun only continues as the ship sails away shortly after midnight on November 1st to steam toward the next port of call in Cancun, Mexico.
